Police rescue four runaway students in Bangladesh

Police in Bangladesh have rescued four primary school students from Chunarughat, Habiganj, after they fled their homes in Cumilla seeking to “live independently.” The group included three fifth-grade students and one third-grade student.

According to Cumilla Police Superintendent Md. Anisuzzaman, the children left home on Monday morning under the pretext of going to school. Investigations revealed that the students had developed connections with several young men through TikTok and planned to start new lives with them. Before leaving, the children took valuable family items, including an Android phone which one student sold for 4,000 Taka to fund their journey.

The students initially traveled to Dhaka but were unable to rent a house. They subsequently moved toward Habiganj. They were eventually spotted by a suspicious CNG auto-rickshaw driver, who alerted the authorities. Police recovered the children along with stolen gold jewelry. Authorities have urged parents to maintain friendly relationships with their children and remain vigilant regarding social media usage.
