On the night of 21 July, a man in the centre of Strakonice, Czech Republic, wrapped an electrical cable tightly around his neck while seated on a bench, intending to end his life. He called emergency line 158 after changing his mind, and police officers Filip Hořejší and Tomáš Halda arrived within three minutes.

The officers quickly removed the cable, administered first aid, and called medical services. The man, who was under the influence of alcohol, regained consciousness and was taken for further treatment. Police reminded the public that crisis hotlines such as 116 111 are available for anyone facing personal difficulties.
