Police respond to separate violent incidents in Italy
Authorities in Italy have responded to two distinct incidents of violence involving weapons and property damage.
In Rome’s Esquilino district, a 30-year-old man experiencing a psychiatric crisis caused significant damage to a restaurant on via di San Giovanni Laterano. The individual repeatedly struck the establishment's glass windows with his head and subsequently attacked a parked vehicle. Carabinieri from the Piazza Dante station intervened and detained the man, who was transported in critical condition to San Giovanni Addolorata hospital for sedation and medical stabilization. He remains under police guard pending judicial proceedings.
In Perugia, Carabinieri arrested a 35-year-old man after he threatened his pregnant partner and two friends with a kitchen knife. The incident occurred inside a residence, where the man also allegedly attempted to seize his partner's car. Officers from the Castel del Piano and Ponte San Giovanni stations secured the scene and took the suspect into custody following the victim's plea for help.
