Police Scotland officer Cameron Ross sentenced to 10 years for rape and abuse

Cameron Ross, a former Police Scotland officer, was convicted of raping two women and repeatedly abusing a third. The offences occurred between 2012 and 2022 in Inverness and on the Isle of Lewis.

A High Court in Edinburgh sentenced Ross to ten years in prison and placed him indefinitely on the sex offenders' register. Judge Alison Stirling emphasized punishment, public protection and rehabilitation. Ross had been suspended in June 2022 after the allegations surfaced and subsequently resigned.

Chief Superintendent Helen Harrison praised the victims for coming forward and stressed that the case demonstrates Police Scotland’s commitment to investigating misconduct, regardless of the offender’s position. Procurator fiscal Faye Cook highlighted the pattern of sustained sexual and physical abuse and urged others to report similar crimes.
