Police seek identification of deceased individuals in Germany and Austria
Authorities in Germany and Austria are working to identify individuals found deceased in separate recent incidents.
In Heilbronn, Germany, police are seeking public assistance to identify a man recovered from the Neckar River near Theresienwiese on August 1, 2026. The man, estimated to be between 40 and 60 years old, is described as approximately 1.81 meters tall, weighing 80 kilograms, with grey or dark blonde hair and a short grey-brown beard. He was last seen wearing a grey patterned T-shirt, black three-quarter length jogging pants, and black boxers. Investigators have found no immediate evidence of a violent crime.
In the Tannheimer Tal region of the Alps, the Tyrol State Police Directorate is investigating the death of a mountaineer found at Gaishorn. The individual reportedly fell approximately 110 meters onto rocky terrain. Due to the condition of the body, officials have not yet confirmed the gender or identity of the deceased. An autopsy has been ordered by the Innsbruck public prosecutor's office.
