Police seek new leads in 1988 disappearance of Dagmar Knops

German police are renewing their search for information regarding the 1988 disappearance of Dagmar Knops, a 22-year-old student who vanished in Kempen. Knops was last seen leaving a local establishment called ‘Lichtblick’ at approximately 10:15 p.m. on March 28, 1988. She never arrived at her parental home, located only 350 meters away.

Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, though no body has ever been recovered. Despite two anonymous letters sent in 2005 and 2008 claiming to identify locations where her remains could be found, searches of those sites were unsuccessful.

The cold case is scheduled to be featured on the television program ‘Aktenzeichen XY… Ungelöst’ on November 4. Authorities are offering a reward of 5,000 euros for information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator(s) and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or had contact with the suspect over the decades.
