Police seek suspect in Oberdürenbach child sexual assault case

Police in Mayen and the Koblenz Public Prosecutor's Office have launched a renewed public appeal to identify a man responsible for the sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl in Oberdürenbach. The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 21, 2025, near a sports field where the child had been attending a birthday party.

According to investigators, the suspect approached the child on a path adjacent to the sports field and led her to a nearby horse shelter, where he threatened her and forced her to engage in sexual acts. There is a suspicion that the perpetrator may have recorded the assault on video.

The suspect is described as being between 1.70 and 1.80 meters tall, of average build, with dark hair and a mustache. He was reportedly wearing a black shirt and black shorts. Investigators are also looking into reports of an athletic man, possibly a jogger or hiker, seen in the area at the time.

To assist in the investigation, a reward of 7,500 euros has been offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator. The case will be featured on the television program ‘Aktenzeichen XY’ to reach a wider audience.
