Police seek suspects in jewelry theft and impersonation fraud cases

Law enforcement agencies in Quebec are seeking public assistance to identify suspects involved in separate criminal activities.

The Sûreté du Québec is searching for a man and a woman suspected of a jewelry store robbery in Saint-Georges that occurred on August 12. The suspects were reportedly traveling in a silver four-door Jeep Cherokee, manufactured between 2014 and 2018, with Ontario license plates. The female suspect is approximately 40 years old with medium-length brown hair and primarily speaks English. The male suspect has brown hair and eyes, speaks English, and has visible tattoos on his right arm and right calf. Police believe they are linked to other thefts totaling several thousand dollars.

Separately, the Laval Police Service (SPL) is investigating a fraud scheme involving an individual impersonating a police officer. The suspect contacts victims by phone, claiming they have been defrauded and instructing them to place credit cards, debit cards, and gold jewelry in an envelope for protection. The individual then collects the items and leaves. Investigators have observed the suspect making ATM transactions in Sherbrooke, Quebec City, and Laval following these incidents. Authorities warn that these schemes often target elderly or vulnerable populations.
