AfD demonstration in Frankfurt (Oder) follows student attack

Approximately 500 people attended an AfD-organized demonstration in Frankfurt (Oder) on Tuesday evening. The rally, held under the theme of “migrant violence,” was prompted by a recent incident where a group of about ten teenagers attacked a 14-year-old student in front of a secondary school. The attack, which was filmed and shared on the internet, involved several youths of German, Polish, Russian, and Syrian nationality.

While the AfD is calling for stricter measures, including lowering the age of criminal responsibility to ten years and increasing deportations, the local CDU has accused the party of “political agitation.” Brandenburg's Interior Minister Jan Redmann noted the involvement of potentially migrant-influenced youth groups and emphasized the need for law enforcement to prevent further violence.

Authorities are currently reviewing security measures around schools, and the state government is examining potential changes to residency status and deportation procedures. A registered counter-demonstration did not take place.
