Dominican Republic Police Director warns criminals to surrender or face pursuit

Dominican Republic Police Director, Major General Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García, has issued a stern warning to criminals, stating they have two choices: surrender or cease their illegal activities. He emphasized that the police will actively pursue offenders regardless of their location to ensure public safety and restore order.

This directive follows recent police operations, including an intervention in Santiago where Jesús Alberto Aracena Castillo, known as 'Bebeco,' was killed. Authorities noted that Aracena Castillo was wanted under seven arrest warrants for various crimes, including homicide and armed robbery.

The aggressive stance has drawn criticism from the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH-RD). The organization's president, Manuel María Mercedes Medina, has called on the Police Director to halt what the commission characterizes as 'executions' during state interventions, urging a return to constitutional due process.
