Police Shootings Lead to Suspect Deaths in Brazil's Bahia and Pará

In the municipality of Saubara, Bahia, an unidentified man died after exchanging fire with the Military Police during a patrol in the district of Bom Jesus dos Pobres. Police recovered a 12‑gauge shotgun, cocaine‑like substances, marijuana, cash and a monitoring camera, which were handed to the local police station.

In Cametá, Pará, a man seized a police officer’s Beretta pistol during a disturbance at a beach bar, shot the officer in the leg and was subsequently shot by police. The suspect, identified as Edilson da Costa Pacheco, died from his wounds. The officer’s injuries were treated, and two other individuals were detained for questioning.
