Brazil Police Conduct Nationwide Child Abuse Investigation Operation
On June 23, the Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR) launched the third phase of a nationwide operation targeting individuals accused of storing and sharing child sexual abuse material. Sixteen judicial warrants were executed in eight states – Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Goiás, Ceará, Pernambuco and the Federal District – resulting in eight preventive arrests and eight searches and seizures. The investigation, which began with a seized cellphone in Palmas in February 2025, traced illicit content exchanged via the Telegram platform. The operation received support from the Cyber Operations Laboratory, the National Public Security Secretariat and the Ministry of Justice, and involved cooperation with the United States’ Homeland Security Investigations. Electronic equipment seized is being examined to further the probe.
