Police stop truck with unsecured hay bales at Kamener Kreuz

German highway police intercepted a truck carrying unsecured hay bales at the Kamener Kreuz on the A44 motorway near Dortmund. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon after a motorist reported the vehicle, noting that the round bales were shifting significantly to the right on the trailer.

Investigations revealed that the load was not only improperly secured but also exceeded the legal height limit. The transport reached a total height of 4.28 meters, which is 28 centimeters above the permitted four-meter limit.

The 50-year-old driver, who is from the Netherlands, was prohibited from continuing his journey until the transport company provided a second truck and a forklift to reload and properly secure the cargo. Both the driver and the transport entrepreneur received administrative fines, and the driver was required to pay a security deposit on-site.
