Police Strengthening Foundation honors firefighters during Firefighters Week
In observance of Firefighters Week from September 25 to October 1, Hamit Soybir, Director of the Police Strengthening Foundation, issued a statement highlighting the vital role of the Fire Department in protecting the lives and property of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Soybir noted that the Fire Department, which has served since the 1960s and currently operates under the General Directorate of Police, is a key institution utilizing advanced technical infrastructure and experienced personnel. Beyond firefighting, the department responds to traffic accidents, natural disasters, and various rescue operations.
The Police Strengthening Foundation is actively working to supply the Fire Department with modern equipment, vehicles, and tools to ensure faster and safer public service. Additionally, the foundation coordinates with the Fire Department to provide fire safety training and awareness programs to various institutions and workplaces, offering both theoretical and practical instruction on prevention and emergency response.
