Police trainee seriously injured during Bremen parade

A police trainee was seriously injured during the traditional Freimarkt parade in Bremen on Saturday, October 24. The incident occurred in Obernstraße when the trainee attempted to assist a 45-year-old man who had tripped while exiting a parade float.

A 43-year-old companion of the man attacked and knocked the trainee down, causing her to strike her face against a barrier. The trainee sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Police apprehended both men in Langenstraße following a brief flight. The suspects, who showed high blood alcohol levels of 1.4 and 2.7 per mille, reportedly insulted and threatened officers while resisting arrest. Investigations are ongoing.
