Police Use Sniffer Dogs to Seize Drugs in UK and India
Northamptonshire Police and North Northamptonshire Council deployed a drug‑detection dog, Willow, with handler Paul Mitchinson, to inspect 12 licensed premises in villages such as Barnwell and Oundle. The team found suspected cocaine on a floor and possible cannabis in an abandoned handbag. No arrests were made; individuals identified as possessing drugs will be offered voluntary interviews. Police officials said the operation was intended to deter drug misuse and reassure the public.
In Adilabad, India, a specially trained sniffer dog named Roma, assisted by handler Ramesh, located four concealed packets containing about 15 grams of ganja inside the home of Sheikh Wajid. The seized cannabis led to the registration of a case against the accused under narcotics law. The raid was part of a district‑wide anti‑drug drive directed by Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan.
