Police vehicle theft in Rio de Janeiro leads to arrest

A woman was arrested after stealing a Military Police vehicle in Casimiro de Abreu, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro, on Sunday, August 9. The vehicle, belonging to the 32nd BPM (Macaé), was parked when the woman took control of it and fled toward Rio das Ostras.

Following a tactical encirclement on the Amaral Peixoto Highway, the woman refused to stop and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a protective barrier near a local business. The collision caused damage to the police car. The suspect was detained and taken to the 123rd DP in Macaé.

In addition to the theft, the two police officers responsible for the vehicle have been placed under disciplinary arrest. The Military Police command stated that administrative measures are being taken and the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
