Police warn of fraudulent tradesmen scam in Bad Königshofen
Police in Unterfranken, Germany, are warning the public about a group of fraudulent tradesmen operating in the Bad Königshofen area. The group, consisting of five men, reportedly approached a homeowner in the Grabfeld district with an offer to replace rain gutters at an affordable price.
After completing the work, the group leader demanded eight times the originally agreed-upon amount and pressured the victim for immediate payment. One individual even accompanied the homeowner to a bank to facilitate the transaction. The victim was only able to provide 1,000 euros before threatening to call the police, at which point the group fled the scene.
Authorities are searching for the suspects, who were traveling in a white Mercedes Sprinter with Munich license plates. Police advise citizens to be cautious of unsolicited repair offers and to request detailed cost estimates to avoid similar scams.
