Police warn of rising internet fraud and shopping scams in Poland

Police in Poland are issuing warnings regarding various methods of internet fraud used to target citizens. In Jastrzębie-Zdrój, a resident reported a scam involving an online purchase where a rust remover was replaced with a car washer in a cash-on-delivery shipment.

Authorities are also highlighting sophisticated social engineering tactics. These include criminals impersonating bank employees to claim accounts are compromised, or hijacking social media profiles to request urgent financial assistance from friends and family via BLIK codes.

To prevent losses, police advise maintaining a principle of limited trust, verifying seller details and reviews before purchasing, checking shipments in the presence of a courier, and independently contacting banks through official channels if suspicious calls occur.
