Police warn of scammers posing as officers to rob elderly

Police are investigating a series of crimes involving individuals posing as law enforcement officers to defraud elderly residents. In the Krimpenerwaard region, multiple victims have been targeted.

In Schoonhoven, an elderly woman was contacted by someone claiming to be from a construction company. The caller gained her trust by mentioning specific details about her home and instructed her to place jewelry in a bag for collection. A woman arrived shortly after, taking gold jewelry and family heirlooms.

Similar incidents occurred in Bergambacht, where individuals posing as police officers convinced residents to hand over jewelry and thousands of euros in cash under the guise of ‘securing’ the items due to local burglaries. Authorities have issued warnings to the public to remain vigilant against these deceptive tactics.
