Police warn of SMS scams impersonating Západoslovenská energetika

Police in Slovakia have issued a warning regarding fraudulent SMS messages impersonating the energy company Západoslovenská energetika. The scammers use psychological pressure by threatening victims with electricity disconnection to induce panic.

The fraudulent messages appear to come from the energy provider's name rather than an unknown number, making them look legitimate at first glance. Victims are directed to a malicious link (uiwe.click) to provide payment card details, which results in financial loss.

Authorities advise citizens not to click on links in such messages and to verify payment status only through official company applications or customer zones. If card details have already been entered, individuals are urged to contact their bank immediately to block the card.
