Policlinico San Matteo introduces art therapy project ‘Divenire’

The IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia has unveiled ‘Divenire’, an artwork created through an art therapy laboratory involving oncology and gynecological oncology patients, caregivers, and healthcare staff. Developed by Nicole Carbone as part of her master's thesis in Art Therapy from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, the piece uses quilling techniques to transform fragile paper strips into a resilient shared composition. The work is displayed in the waiting area of the CUP in Pavilion 29.

This initiative is part of a long-standing collaboration between the Brera Academy and Policlinico San Matteo, aiming to establish a permanent art gallery within the hospital. The project seeks to use art as a tool for social motivation and health communication. Artists like Houda Bakkali emphasize that integrating art and technology can enhance awareness for breast cancer patients and their families, providing immersive and interactive ways to disseminate accurate medical information and promote early diagnosis.
