Polish academic institutions partner with local entities for health research
The Academy of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz has signed a letter of intent with the 20th Military Spa and Rehabilitation Hospital in Krynica-Zdrój. This agreement aims to foster cooperation in medical education, rehabilitation, and scientific research. A key objective of the partnership is the potential establishment of a clinical department or a clinical-didactic unit within the Krynica facility, providing practical training opportunities for future physiotherapists, nurses, and dietitians.
In Krosno, the State Academy of Applied Sciences has completed a research project in collaboration with the local municipality focusing on the health habits of primary school students. The study assessed nutritional habits, physical activity, and BMI among students in grades IV through VII. Findings revealed that while 73.8% of students reported engaging in leisure sports, 33.6% were overweight or obese, and 66.9% demonstrated low knowledge regarding the health consequences of excessive body weight.
