Polish Academy of Sciences Honors Young Researchers at Wieliczka Gala
On 21 May, the inaugural Małopolskie Awards of the Polish Academy of Sciences were presented in the Jan Haluska chamber of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, 135 metres underground. The ceremony marked the first time the awards were given to young scientists in three fields – natural sciences, humanities and technical sciences. Recipients showcased research that demonstrates the impact of Polish science on technology, medicine and the environment.
The event was part of a broader cultural programme in the region, with additional activities such as the "Living for the Planet" performance by Teatr Katarynka and a series of open‑air concerts and theatre evenings scheduled in Niepoomice throughout the summer.
