Polish Academy of Sciences to host Konik breeding and water resource event

The InLife Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, alongside the Polish Academy of Sciences Chancellery, will host the “Water for the Future of Warmia and Mazury. Polish Konik 2026” event on September 4–5, 2026, in Popielno and Wierzba.

The event aims to combine a traditional gathering for Polish Konik breeders with a scientific debate regarding water resources, a critical challenge for the Warmia and Mazury region. The program includes field tests of the horses' utility, the registration of young stallions and mares into the Polish Konik Studbook, and a national championship for foals.

In addition to equine activities, the event will feature expert lectures and debates focused on water as a foundation for ecosystem resilience, conservation breeding, and regional development.
