Polish agricultural chambers seek law changes for farmstead housing

The National Council of Agricultural Chambers (KRIR) has appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to amend regulations regarding residential construction on farmsteads. Currently, farmers face legal barriers when attempting to build new homes on high-quality agricultural land (classes I-III).

KRIR argues that existing land protection laws prevent farmers from replacing existing buildings that are in poor technical condition or where renovation is economically unfeasible. The council maintains that these restrictions force farmers into costly repairs or cause them to abandon necessary investments, even when such construction does not result in a net reduction of agricultural land area.
