Polish agricultural markets see mixed trends in apple and soybean sectors
The Polish agricultural sector is seeing varied outcomes across different crops. In the apple market, despite lower yields for varieties like Red Jonaprince, prices remain low, ranging between 1.30 and 1.50 PLN/kg. This is attributed to the continued presence of stock from the previous season and buyers attempting to apply lower rates to new harvests. While Gala apples are seeing strong demand for export, standard varieties used by supermarkets face a more difficult market environment.
In the soybean sector, purchase prices are approximately 2,000 PLN per ton, depending on the region. Although yields are slightly lower than last year—averaging 3 to 4 tons per hectare—the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development maintains that soybean cultivation remains profitable. Minister Stefan Krajewski noted that increasing opportunities for domestic processing and the presence of over 60 collection points support the crop's viability. Additionally, soybean cultivation offers soil benefits by fixing atmospheric nitrogen, which can reduce fertilizer requirements for subsequent crops by 30–40 kg N/ha.
