Polish agriculture faces economic challenges and industry disputes

The Polish agricultural sector is facing significant challenges regarding production costs and market stability. The upcoming National Agricultural Forum, ‘Rolnicy + Rozwój Plus’, scheduled for October 10 in Kazimierów, aims to address the entire food supply chain, from farm production to consumer distribution. The event will feature political figures including former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and various agricultural officials to discuss food security and the economic viability of farming.

Simultaneously, tensions have emerged in the sugar beet industry. Negotiations between Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza S.A. (KGS) and the Council of the Sugar Beet Growers Association regarding 2027 campaign contracting terms have faced difficulties. Growers have criticized KGS proposals, such as a rate of 26 euro per ton for contracted beets, arguing that these terms fail to account for rising cultivation costs and could lead to significant financial losses for farmers.
