Polish agriculture faces market volatility and production cost challenges
Agricultural experts in Poland are highlighting the increasing difficulty of managing farm operations due to market unpredictability and shifting production costs. During a debate organized by the Association of Employers, Tenants, and Agricultural Owners in Bydgoszcz, analysts noted that geopolitical events and Black Sea stability significantly influence the domestic market. Experts suggest that instead of relying solely on forecasting, farmers should focus on preparing their farms for various economic scenarios.
Juliusz Młodecki, president of the National Association of Rapeseed and Protein Crop Producers, pointed out the growing discrepancy between the rising costs of production inputs and the prices received for agricultural products. This imbalance complicates long-term investment and production planning.
In related field research presented at the Agro WARMA conference, studies on winter oats have examined the impact of nitrogen fertilization. Experiments conducted by Dr. Marek Reich involved testing five different oat varieties across varying nitrogen levels, including a control group without nitrogen. The research aims to address the lack of long-term domestic data on winter oat cultivation and optimal sowing timing, particularly when planting after corn.
