Polish agriculture reports show barley yield shifts and organic growth

Recent data highlights significant trends in the Polish agricultural sector, specifically regarding winter barley yields and the expansion of organic farming.

According to the Center for Plant Varieties Testing (COBORU), the 2026 Post-Registration Variety Trial (PDO) results for winter barley show varying yields. At the a1 level, the standard yield was 86.3 dt/ha, which is lower than the 93.1 dt/ha recorded in 2025 but higher than the 78.6 dt/ha in 2024. At the a2 level, the standard yield reached 95.3 dt/ha, also down from 2025 levels but up from 2024.

In the organic farming sector, Poland saw growth in 2025. The number of organic producers rose by 4.4% to 25,875, with agricultural producers making up the vast majority. Additionally, the area of organic farmland increased by 9.5% compared to the previous year, reaching 757.1 thousand hectares. The largest areas of organic land are located in the West Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, and Podlaskie voivodeships.
