Polish animator Piotr Milczarek wins Golden Pegasus at Animator Festival

The 19th International Festival of Animated Film Animator took place in Poznań, Poland, featuring close to 130 titles across five competition sections. The event, held under the theme “to be human,” awarded the Grand Prix – the Golden Pegasus – to Polish director Piotr Milczarek for his short film “Innego końca świata nie będzie.” The festival is a qualifying platform for the Academy Awards, giving the winning work a chance to compete for an Oscar.

Other highlights included the Golden Animusz prize for Marcjanna Urbańska’s “Dżungli nie ma,” the Best Full‑Length Film award to the Korean title “The Square” by Bo‑sol Kim, and audience‑chosen favorites such as “Żuczki” by Piotr Chmielewski. The festival reaffirmed Poland’s strong position on Europe’s animation map and showcased a mix of established and emerging talent.
