Polish Anti‑Corruption Agency raids Warsaw South Hospital amid fraud probe

Agents of the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) entered the South Hospital in Warsaw and secured documents at the city hall, the Ursus district office and the hospital itself, acting on orders from the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office. The bureau’s spokesperson, Jacek Dobrzyński, said the seized papers will now be "thoroughly analysed and verified" and stressed that the prosecutor determines the scope and timing of the tasks.

The raid is linked to two investigations launched in late June concerning Dr. Dawid Kacprzyk, a physician‑specialist and Civic Coalition (KO) councilor in Ursus. Allegations include earning 1.6 million zł in a year and granting preferential emergency‑room treatment to KO politicians and their families. One probe focuses on false invoicing causing losses of at least 558 558.70 zł, while the other examines broader mismanagement at the hospital. Kacprzyk has been dismissed, and the case is being examined by the National Health Fund, city authorities and the Labour Inspection. The scandal has prompted the health minister to announce reforms aimed at curbing hospital irregularities.
