Polish athletes win eight medals at European Academic Games in Salerno
The eighth edition of the European Academic Games took place in Salerno, Italy, drawing participation from more than 400 universities. Polish competitors from Academia Zamojska performed strongly across a range of sports, earning a total of eight medals.
In the team competition, Jakub Stecyszyn, Szymon Kolasa and Jan Zandecki topped their group, defeated the University of Leipzig (3‑0) in the quarter‑finals, beat the University of Vienna (3‑1) in the semifinals and won a dramatic final against the University of Pécs (3‑2) to claim gold. Individually, Szymon Kolasa captured the gold medal in table tennis, Jakub Stecyszyn took silver and Dawid Michna earned bronze, with additional podium finishes in other events. The Polish delegation highlighted the absence of combat‑sport events this year but still excelled in basketball 3×3, beach volleyball, football, futsal, tennis and table tennis.
