Poland undertakes major renovations of historic tenement, school facilities and Olsztyn castle

The municipal housing authority in Katowice has launched a 4.3 million‑złoty tender to comprehensively modernise a historic tenement on Plac Oddziałów Młodzieży Powstańczej 1. The 12‑month contract covers structural repairs, roof replacement, façade conservation, insulation, balcony restoration and courtyard upgrades.

During the summer holidays, the city of Rzeszów will spend nearly 2.9 million złoty on renovation works across 50 schools and preschools. Works include floor replacement, electrical and water‑system upgrades, modernising classrooms, gymnasiums, toilets and improving surrounding infrastructure.

In Olsztyn, a three‑year refurbishment of the former Warmian chapter castle – once the workplace of Nicolaus Copernicus – has begun. Funded through the national “Feniks” heritage programme, the project will restore walls, roofs, interiors and install accessibility features, with new exhibition spaces and a modern library slated for completion by December 2029.
