Polish banks demand documentation for cash deposits and loan account openings
Polish banks do not universally require customers to open a new account to obtain a cash loan, but many tie loan terms to the opening of additional accounts in order to offer lower interest rates or reduced fees. Consumers are advised to assess whether the cost of maintaining a new account outweighs the benefit of cheaper credit.
When customers make large cash deposits, banks are obligated by anti‑money‑laundering regulations to ask for the source of the funds. The likelihood of questioning increases with the amount, atypical transaction patterns, and deviations from the account’s usual activity. Recent automation of transaction monitoring has made such inquiries more common. Customers are recommended to bring supporting documents such as sale contracts, donation records, or previous tax returns to facilitate the process.
