Polish fruit market reports strong strawberry sales and rising demand for kamczacka berries

Polish producers report brisk sales of kamczacka berries, with dessert-quality fruit fetching 28‑40 zł per kilogram and processing-quality fruit 5‑7 zł per kilogram. Plantator Piotr Stępniak notes daily sales of 100‑120 kg and plans to begin mechanical harvesting next week.

Consumers are also tracking early berry harvests across the country, with reports of ripe berries in the Barycz Valley, Łódź region, Warsaw outskirts, Greater Poland and Nowogrodziec. Experts advise focusing on pine and mixed forests where lighter, acidic soils and partial sunlight promote faster ripening.

In Warsaw’s Hala Mirowska, a shopper discovered an over‑charging scheme where pre‑packaged strawberry portions were priced as if they contained more fruit, resulting in a loss of about 2 zł per half‑kilogram purchase.
