Polish business landscape shows short-term planning and urban innovation

Polish micro-entrepreneurs are operating with extremely short-term planning horizons, according to a study by IMAS International for the Krajowy Rejestr Długów. The research indicates that 85 percent of micro-firms do not plan beyond six months, with 69 percent focusing only on the next three months. While this short-term approach allows for rapid responses to rising costs and payment delays, it limits long-term investment and expansion.

In contrast, certain Polish cities are fostering growth through integrated ecosystems involving local governments, universities, and businesses. Wrocław has attracted research and development centers through the Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency and partnerships with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Poznań supports innovation via the Poznań Science and Technology Park, while Szczecin leverages its maritime and logistics potential through Technopark Pomerania. Gdańsk also focuses on combining maritime economy with new technologies through InvestGDA and the STARTER Entrepreneurship Incubator.
