Polish carrot wholesale prices fall after seasonal surge

Poland’s carrot market experienced a sharp decline in wholesale prices following a brief seasonal price surge. After reaching record highs, the price of young, washed carrots dropped to a range of 1.80–2.20 PLN per kilogram in early July, averaging about 2.00 PLN/kg. Despite the decrease, the current price remains roughly 25 % above the same period last year, though it stays below the five‑year average when the unusually high 2023 summer prices are excluded. Analysts note that the market has transitioned to a surplus of new crop, easing price pressure.

The price movement reflects broader trends in the vegetable sector, where other segments face less favorable conditions, but carrots have returned to a more typical seasonal level after the record‑breaking period.
