Polish Catholic leaders issue appeals on social and academic issues
Bishop Artur Ważny has issued an appeal for support for women facing difficult prenatal diagnoses. While maintaining his stance on the defense of unborn life, the Bishop emphasized the need for empathy and practical assistance for women and men experiencing distress over a child's health or unwanted pregnancy. He called for rational help rather than social escalation, highlighting the psychological impact of abortion.
In a separate address, Archbishop Józef Guzdek spoke to the academic community in Białystok during the inauguration of the new academic year. He urged scholars to prioritize the common good and cooperate despite differing views. The Archbishop also addressed the challenges of artificial intelligence, noting its potential for scientific advancement alongside risks such as disinformation, surveillance, and the erosion of social trust.
