Poland Catholic parishes mark Missionary Week and religious assessments
On October 18, 2026, various Catholic parishes across Poland marked the start of Missionary Week and World Mission Sunday. This period includes various liturgical observances, such as the feast of St. Luke the Evangelist and upcoming commemorations for St. John Paul II and St. John Kanty.
In the Tarnów Diocese, the annual counting of faithful by the Institute of Statistics of the Catholic Church is underway to assess religious practices. Historically, this diocese has reported high rates of Sunday Mass attendance and Holy Communion participation compared to national averages.
Additionally, the Catholic Church in Poland is preparing for the upcoming season of prayer for the deceased, including the collection of intentions for November. Other notable events include the appointment of Grzegorz Bielaszka as Apostolic Nuncio to the United Arab Emirates and various local parish activities ranging from youth catechism to community fundraisers.
