Polish cinema gains recognition at London and Vilnius festivals
Polish filmmakers and actors are gaining international and regional recognition through various film festival activities. In London, director Małgorzata Szumowska and her collaborators are presenting “The Idiot(s),” a film set in the 19th century that explores the life of Anna, the wife and publisher of Fyodor Dostoevsky, rather than focusing solely on the writer’s biography.
Simultaneously, the 20th Polish Film Festival is being celebrated in Vilnius, Lithuania. The event includes screenings of award-winning dramas such as Monika Majorek’s “Innego końca nie będzie” and Wojciech Smarzowski’s “Dom dobry.” These screenings are accompanied by meetings with creators and actors, including Maja Pankiewicz, to discuss the themes of loss, family, and memory presented in the works.
