Polish cinema updates: New films from Jan Komasa and Agnieszka Holland

New details have been released regarding upcoming Polish-led cinematic projects. The thriller “HEEL” (Good Boy), directed by Jan Komasa, is scheduled for release on November 27. The film follows the story of Tommy, a 19-year-old kidnapped and held by a family attempting to “rehabilitate” him into a well-behaved child. The film explores themes of freedom and protection through the lens of a distorted domestic life.

Additionally, the first biographical film about novelist Franz Kafka, titled “Kafka,” is set for release on January 8, 2027. Directed by Agnieszka Holland, the film serves as Poland’s entry for the International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards. It depicts Kafka’s life in early 20th-century Prague, focusing on his internal struggles, his relationship with his domineering father, and his identity as both a private individual and a global literary icon.
