Polish cities implement pest and wildlife management measures

Local authorities in Poland are implementing measures to manage insect and wildlife populations in Stalowa Wola and Jaworzno.

In Stalowa Wola, the Miejski Zakład Budynków is conducting mosquito and tick spraying operations in green spaces, playgrounds, and sports facilities. To minimize the impact on beneficial insects and target peak activity times, spraying is scheduled for evenings and nights. Specific residential areas, including Osiedle Fabryczne and Park Jordanowskiego, are scheduled for treatments on August 24, with further operations planned for August 26 in areas such as Osiedle Rozwadów and Osiedle Wyzwolenia.

In Jaworzno, the city is addressing the presence of wild boars in residential areas through reductionary culling. A new agreement signed on August 11 allows for the culling of 50 animals through December 18, following the completion of a previous quota. Local hunting clubs, including ‘Słonka’, ‘Jawor’, and ‘Kozioł’, are also conducting culls as part of regional wildlife management. Residents are encouraged to report wild animal sightings to the Powiatowe Centrum Zarządzania Kryzysowego.
