Polish cities launch initiatives to support non-governmental organizations
Several Polish cities are implementing initiatives to support and consult with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
In Kraków, the city has launched public consultations regarding the 2026 Cooperation Program with NGOs. The process, running from September 22 to October 17, 2025, aims to gather opinions from the third sector to shape future municipal cooperation. Similarly, Sosnowiec has announced consultations for its 2027 NGO cooperation program, allowing organizations to submit opinions via electronic forms or in person.
Gniezno is establishing a new NGO Center on Wyszyńskiego Street through an agreement with the Activus Foundation. This 800,000 PLN program, funded in part by Swiss financial assistance, will provide workspace, legal and accounting advice, mentoring, and training. The center will also host a volunteer coordination hub and a grant competition featuring 15 local initiative subsidies.
Nationally, resources for non-governmental organizations are estimated to reach nearly 170 million PLN.
