Poland launches school safety and traffic enforcement campaigns
As the new school year begins across Poland, law enforcement agencies have launched widespread safety campaigns and inspections to protect students and manage increased traffic near educational facilities.
In various regions, police are conducting sobriety checks and monitoring traffic behavior. In Gniezno, four drivers were removed from the road for driving under the influence near schools. In Gdańsk, authorities issued fines to parents after discovering minors operating electric scooters without proper authorization. Meanwhile, municipal guards in Ostróda and police in Kielce have initiated dedicated safety programs to monitor pedestrian crossings and educate both drivers and students.
In addition to traffic enforcement, structural issues have impacted local education. In Wrzesina, near Olsztyn, a primary school was closed due to structural cracks in a building extension, forcing nearly 200 students to transition to remote learning before eventually moving to a different facility in Jonkowo.
