Polish municipalities revitalize urban market squares

Several Polish municipalities are undergoing significant market square revitalizations to replace concrete surfaces with green spaces and modern amenities.

In Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, a 22 million PLN reconstruction project is set to begin in September. The project, funded by European and state resources, will be executed by Ostrowiecki Kombinat Budowlany. The renovation includes replacing existing surfaces with water-permeable paving, installing a multimedia fountain, and building a cafe with a rooftop terrace. Mayor Artur Łakomiec noted that the project aims to provide more shade and rest areas for residents.

In Zawichost, the revitalization of the town square is nearing completion, with final works expected by late September. The 3 million PLN project, supported by the Polski Ład program, transforms the area into a mini-park featuring a bronze sculpture of a raft boat and a water feature designed to mimic historical Vistula River water level measurements. The project also includes new granite paving, improved drainage, and increased parking capacity.
