Polish cities rank highly in Healthy Cities Index

The fifth edition of the Healthy Cities Index has released its rankings, highlighting significant achievements for several Polish cities in categories of housing and urban space.

Gliwice secured second place in Poland for housing, rising from fifth place last year. The ranking evaluated ten indicators, including housing stock size, municipal and TBS housing, renovation spending, and vacancy rates. The city is currently implementing a program to build over one thousand rental apartments, with several projects at various stages of completion, including developments on Dworska and Wiertnicza streets scheduled for early 2028.

In the urban space category, Siemianowice Śląskie ranked second in the country, trailing only Chorzów. This category assessed how physical environments contribute to health and safety, specifically analyzing road accidents, crime rates, water surfaces, and the proportion of parks and greenery. Experts noted that Siemianowice Śląskie's high ranking was driven by a combination of strong safety metrics and a high density of green spaces.
