Polish cities report costly vandalism of municipal bikes

In Bydgoszcz, a series of vandalism incidents damaged newly relaunched municipal bicycles, destroying components such as batteries, GPS units, rear fenders and wiring. The estimated loss exceeds 30,000 zł and the cases have been reported to police.

In Gniezno, three teenagers aged 14‑15 were identified after a video showed them dropping a city bike from a height onto a school courtyard. Repair costs are reported at more than 3,000 zł. Police quickly traced the perpetrators, and the matter is now being handled by the juvenile court.

Both city authorities have appealed to residents to protect public property and to report suspicious activity, emphasizing the importance of preserving shared transport resources.
