Polish Competition Office launches emergency‑fund calculator
The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) introduced a free online savings calculator to help Polish consumers determine how much to set aside each month for an emergency fund. The tool shows required monthly contributions for targets of 10,000 zł, 30,000 zł or 50,000 zł over periods of one to five years, and illustrates the modest impact of typical savings‑account interest rates.
Financial experts advise building a reserve equal to three‑to‑six months of living expenses, with higher‑income households often aiming for up to twelve months. Automatic transfers to a separate savings account, cutting unnecessary subscriptions and rounding up purchases are recommended tactics. Data from the Polish Development Fund (PFR) shows household financial assets of about 3.8 trillion zł in Q3 2025, underscoring the importance of systematic saving for many Poles.
