Polish confectionery and baby food markets face shifting consumer trends
A new report by Wedel on the global and Polish chocolate confectionery market indicates significant growth. The global market reached a value of over 130 billion euros in 2025, with projections suggesting it will exceed 147 billion euros by 2030. In Poland, chocolate products account for over 60% of the total confectionery market value, which grew by 5.1% year-on-year to nearly 13.8 billion PLN, despite a 2.6% decrease in volume.
In contrast, the market for food for infants and children up to age three is facing demographic challenges. Data from PMR shows that the number of buyers in Poland has decreased by half between 2022 and 2025, with only 8% of Poles reporting infant food purchases compared to 16% in 2022. While the market value for this segment remained around 1 billion PLN net annually between 2023 and 2025, the shrinking consumer base is prompting companies like Nestlé, Carrefour, and Lidl to adjust their strategies by targeting older age groups or focusing on specialized products.
